The Korea Legislation Research Institute (President Yeong-soo Han) held its 67th Legislative Policy Forum on Wednesday, April 30, at the Institute's main conference room in Sejong City. The forum featured LG Global Strategy Center President Chang-ryul Yoon as the speaker, addressing the theme "An Era of Upheaval: Corporate Responses to Geopolitical Changes."

President Chang-ryul Yoon currently serves as President of the LG Global Strategy Center, LG Group's think tank. He is an expert with extensive experience in both public service and corporate strategy, having previously held positions including Director of the Social Coordination Office at the Office for Government Policy Coordination, Senior Presidential Secretary for Social Affairs, and First and Second Vice Minister at the Office for Government Policy Coordination.

In his presentation, President Yoon examined the changing patterns of the global economic order, focusing on two major trends: the restructuring of global supply chains and the competition for technological supremacy, amidst rapidly shifting international dynamics.

He specifically explained how countries are responding to the strengthening global trend of protectionism based on national self-interest, using the US-China conflict and industrial policy cases from major nations as examples.

He also pointed out that traditional military-centric national competition is shifting toward advanced technologies like artificial intelligence and robotics. He noted that as major countries accelerate efforts to secure scientific and technological capabilities, the industrial landscape is rapidly changing. He emphasized that South Korea, too, needs to respond more proactively with policy considerations and institutional foundations to enhance its competitiveness in this technological race.

Meanwhile, the Korea Legislation Research Institute hosts Legislative Policy Forums, inviting experts from diverse fields to share legislative achievements and identify new legislative projects. Previous forums featured presentations by experts including Vice Minister Ki-dong Ko of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, Chief of Staff Jeong-won Kim of the Constitutional Court, and President Jae-ho Yeom of Taejae University.
