The Korea Legislation Research Institute (President Kim Kye-hong) held an International Conference on Social Values ​​2019 at the JW Marriott Seoul on the theme of “Strategy of Social Value.” The conference was designed to establish the legislation of social values ​​and social economy, and to seek academic and policy development.

 

The conference was attended by Yun Ho-jung, National Assemblyman for the Democratic Party, who gave a congratulatory address, Seong Nak-in, the former president of Seoul National University, Bart Houlahan, founder of B-Lab, William H. Clark Jr., advisory lawyer at Drinker Biddle & Reath LL.P, Paolo Di Cesare, co-founder of Navita Lab, and other approximately 80 domestic and international experts.

 

President Bart Hulahan shared his experiences and meanings in the spread of social values ​​in the United States in his keynote entitled "How to pursue social value worldwide." William H. Clark Jr., advisory lawyer at Drinker Biddle & Reath LL.P and Paolo Di Cesare, co-founder of Navita Lab explained the legislation process and operations of Benefit Corporation, which is spreading around the United States and Italy.

 

KLRI President Kim remarked, “With this conference, the Korea Legislation Research Institute will systematically establish social values ​​and legalization strategies of social economy, and seek ways to develop academic and policy.” He added, “We expect communications between the government, academia and even practitioners to become more active, resulting in social consensus and fruition of legislation.”

 

Meanwhile, the Korea Legislation Research Institute is studying the legislation of social values ​​that contribute to the development of public interests and communities, including human rights and safety, job creation and consideration for the socially underprivileged, and the coexistence of large corporations and SMEs.
