KLRI-SCC-KRILA-DSI-JRI Joint Conference was held
 
 
Korea Legislation Research Institute (President Yeoung-Soo Han) held a joint academic seminar under the theme of ‘New Era of Local Autonomy and the Role of Local Council’ jointly with Sejong City Council (SCC), Korea Research Institute for Local Administration (KRILA), Daejeon Sejong Institute (DSI), and Jeju Research Institute (JRI) at the Sejong Convention Center (SCC) on April 27 (Thur.) and 28 (Fri.).
  
This joint conference aimed to explore new policy ideas and develop future tasks for the harmony of national growth and local autonomy. 
In a welcoming speech, KLRI President Han said, “I hope to see that this conference serves as a forum to discuss the better future of our local autonomy through academic exchanges between local councils and research institutes.”
The two-day event also included opening speech by Chairman In-Ho Yoo of Sejong City Council Operation Committee, welcoming speeches by Chairman Byung-Hun Sang of Sejong City Council and KRILA President Il-Jae Kim, and congratulatory speeches by Sejong City Maory Min-Ho Choi, Superintendent Kyo-Jin Choi of Sejong City Office of Education, National Assembly Member Sung-Guk Hong (Sejong Special Self-Governing City’s Constituency Gap) and National Assembly Member Joon-Hyun Kang (Sejong Special Self-Governing City’s Constituency Eul).
 
This conference had presentations and discussion with various experts on the theme of ▲ Direction and Tasks for Special Self-Governing City/Province, ▲ Special Self-Governing Police System, ▲ Roles of Local Governments and Strategies of Local Councils, laying the foundation for discussions on preparing innovative local autonomy models that will lead the era of decentralization.
   
Meanwhile, KLRI’s Financial Innovation Legislation Team carries out legislative research projects on local autonomy for strengthening local autonomous power for balanced growth and in response for local extinction and for realizing the era of local autonomy. 
KLRI will continue in developing research agenda for the advancement of local autonomy by holding regular Legislative Forum on Local Autonomy and for stronger network with relevant institutions.
