KLRI Held Proclamation of Support Private Sectors by Public Consultative Body for K-UAM

Korea Legislation Research Institute (KLRI, President Yeoung-Soo Han), Korea Airports Corporation (KAC, CEO Hyung-Joong Yoon), Korea Transportation Safety Authority (KATSA, President Yong-Bok Kwon), LX Korea Land Information Corporation (LX, CEO Jung-Ryul Kim), Korea Meteorological Industry and Technology Institute (KMITI, President, Young-In Ahn), and Korea Radio Promotion Association (RAPA, VP Jung-Soo Song) held Proclamation of Support Private Sectors by Public Consultative Body for K-UAM.

This Proclamation aims to seek a way to support the private industry by the public sector as well as reinforcing cooperation among relevant institutions to create a safe and sustainable environment for UAM, as the commercialization of K-UAM is about to start as of 2025 according to the Act on Promotion and Support of Urban Air Transportation Utilization enacted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport in last August.

The participating seven organizations discussed the way to specify the road map for strengthening cooperation in the public sector by analyzing laws, systems and infrastructure, spatial information, traffic demand, radio environment, and weather environment for the safe commercialization of K-UAM.

In particular, the discussion focused on the roles of each organization by each stage of the introduction of UAM and on future plans. The heads of seven public organizations expressed their willingness to actively support private businesses and local governments.

KLRI President Han said, “It is very meaningful that seven institutions are here today to discuss
future direction for a safe and sustainable environment for urban air transportation. I hope that each organization plays its role in its expertise and cooperate together to advance the UAM industry.”

Meanwhile, KLRI signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) last December for ‘the establishment of public consultative body to support private sector for a safe and sustainable UAM environment’ with Korea Airports Corporation, Korea Transportation Safety Authority, LX Korea Land Information Corporation, Korea Meteorological Industry and Technology Institute, and Korea Radio Promotion Association.
