The annual General Meeting was held on September 4 (Mon.) with representatives from member organizations of 20 Asian countries at 16 pm and the 19th ALIN International Conference was held under the theme of ‘Legislation and Policy for Promoting Tourism Industry of Asian Countries’ on September 5 (Tue.).

The conference was divided into four sessions: East Asia, South Asia, Central Asia, and Southeast Asia. Presents from 15 Asian countries, including Korea, Japan, Malaysia, Kazakhstan, and Cambodia, shared the current status of their legislation and policies for the revival of their tourism industry, and also presented changes and ways to improve the industry after the Pandemic.

Experts from renowned law schools and research institutes in Asia participated including Nagoya University's Center for Asian Legal Exchange (CALE), Institute of Legislation and Legal Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kathmandu University School of Law, Royal Academy of Cambodia, and National University of Malaysia.

KLRI President Han said, “The tourism industry has been hit hard by the Pandemic. Particularly  Asian countries had been suffered the most, as the tourism industry takes a big share of their economy. I hope that we look at the efforts made by Asian countries to revive their tourism industry and hold meaningful discussions on the way to design advanced legislative policies to promote the tourism industry.”

Meanwhile, KLRI will publish a compilation of the research results of the 15 countries presented at the Conference at the end of this year.
