KLRI and Korean Studies Institute Sign MOU for Cooperation in Traditional Legal Culture Research

The Korea Legislation Research Institute (President Yeong-soo Han) and the Korean Studies Institute (President Jong-seop Jeong) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Tuesday, June 10th, in the First Conference Room of the Korean Studies Institute located in Andong. The MOU aims to strengthen joint research and cooperation on traditional legal culture and legal systems.
Through this agreement, the two institutions will: ▲ Conduct joint research on legal systems of the traditional era and the history of Korean legal systems ▲ Digitize and utilize historical legal documents ▲ Exploring points of convergence between traditional legal culture and modern legal systems and pioneering new research fields ▲ Exchanging personnel and resources to enhance research expertise ▲ Academic activities such as conferences, forums, and seminars ▲ Exchanging knowledge and academic information, including academic materials and publications.
This agreement is expected to broaden the modern applicability of traditional legal culture and strengthen the research capabilities of both institutions through joint research and digitization of traditional era archival heritage and ancient legal documents.
Yeong-soo Han, President of the Korea Legislation Research Institute, stated, “We expect this agreement to serve as an academic bridge between traditional legal systems and modern jurisprudence,” adding, “We will actively cooperate to enable more creative and sustainable legal research based on the nation's humanities assets.”
Meanwhile, the Korean Legislation Research Institute plans to further strengthen the foundation for legal education and research by continuously uncovering the legal value of traditional records and expanding research exchanges with the Korean Studies Institute.
