The Korea Legislation Research Institute (President Han Yeong-soo Han) held an academic conference on the theme "Exploring the New Government's Anti-Corruption Policy Direction" in collaboration with the Korea Institute of Public Administration and the Korean Association for Corruption Studies at the Korea Institute of Public Administration's Grand Auditorium on Friday, June 13, starting at 1:00 PM.
This conference was organized to academically explore the direction of effective anti-corruption policies within the changing administrative environment, responding to the era's demand for restoring trust in the public sector and enhancing integrity.
The conference comprised three sessions: Regulatory Innovation and Anti-Corruption Policy, Linking 30 Years of Anti-Corruption Research Achievements with Regulatory Innovation, and a Comprehensive Discussion. Prior to the main presentations, Chairman Pil-hwan Oh of the Korean Association for Corruption Studies delivered a keynote address titled "Achievements in Anti-Corruption Policy Research and the New Government's Anti-Corruption Policy Direction."
In Session 1, Seung-je Seong, Senior Research Fellow at the KLRI, presented on "ESG and Corporate Anti-Corruption Legislation," while Jong-han Lee, Senior Research Fellow at the Korea Institute of Public Administration, presented on "Regulatory Reform and Transparency in the Public Sector in Korea."
The subsequent Session 2 featured presentations on “Trends and Development Tasks in Anti-Corruption Research,” “Anti-Corruption Policy Research Utilizing Artificial Intelligence,” and “The Role of the Next Administration in Building an Integrity Society.” Experts from research institutions and academia, including the Korea Expressway Corporation Research Institute, Jeonbuk National University, and the Korea Institute for Anti Corruption, participated, presenting in-depth analyses not only on theoretical discussions but also on the applicability of technology-based policies.
The comprehensive discussion following the presentations featured Vice President Cheon-hyeon Lee of the Korea Institute of Criminology and Justice, Professor Seong-ho Bae of Yeungnam University, Professor Eun-gi Yoon of Dong-A University, and Dr. Woong-young Lee of Jeonbuk National University, who shared diverse perspectives.
Yeong-soo Han, President of the KLRI, stated, “Anti-corruption policies require a structural and systematic approach, not fragmented responses. They must be accompanied by substantive administrative accountability and transparency, alongside the establishment of legal standards.” He added, “I hope diverse policy alternatives are actively discussed here today.”
Meanwhile, the Korea Legislation Research Institute is conducting regulatory legislation research to foster an economic innovation ecosystem and support the revitalization of new technologies, new industries, and new markets, thereby aiding the government's regulatory innovation efforts.
