KLRI-KCLA jointly held the ‘4th Korean Consitutional Scholars Conference’

Korea Legislation Research Institute (KLRI, President Kye-Hong Kim) and Korean Constitutional Law Association (KCLA, Chairman Sang-Kyung Lee) jointly held the 4th Korean Consitutional Scholars Conference under the theme of “Discussion and Constitutional Issues on New Human Right in the Era of Big Transformation” at Ruby Hall (B1F) of EL Tower on September 2nd (Fri, 1 p.m.).
 
The conference served as a venue to discuss on the new roles of the legislative, administrative, and judicial branches and cooperation measures with civil society, issues on the International Convenants on Human Right, human right issues in newly arising phenomena in relation to the social change, and the issues on the socially weak which is the traditional subject on human right.
 
The conference, which is attended by over 100 constitutional experts in and around the domestic academia and the research institutes, was held in total 19 presentations and discussions under 5 subjects including ▲New Challenges for Human Right Governance, ▲ the International Convenants on Human Right and the Constitution, ▲ Social Changes and Human Right, ▲The Socially Weak and Human Right, ▲ Advance of the Education Environment and Culture Industry and Human Right.
 
KLRI President, Kye-Hong Kim said, “the conference is a truly meaningful forum to discuss on the new human right, which include the various issues such as new human right following the development of scientific technology, based on the constitution which has been the backbone of the nation, human right on the international norms, and specific groups’ human right including children, the elderly, the disabled, and refugees.”
 
Sang-Kyung Lee, Chairman of KCLA presented on his/her opening speech, “We need to identify, analyze and evaluate the significance that the various changes we have been experiencing in our society have brought to the discussion on human right and constitution theory“, adding that it is necessary to seek for new direction on human right based on the evaluations.
 
Moving forward, KLRI is planning to discover the preemptive legislative issues through establishing systematic cooperation with relevant institutions, and provide effective legislative suggestions.
