KLRI held the 3rd Global Forum on Climate Change Law and Institutions

Korea Legislation Research Institute (KLRI, President Kye-Hong Kim) held the 3rd Global Forum on Climate Change Law and Institutions on the topic of “Korea-U.S. Cooperation on Climate Change” at International Hall 214 of Korea University on October 6th (Thu, 9:30 a.m.).
 
The forum, which was organized to discuss the concrete agenda and implementation plans for each field on Korea-US bilateral response to the climate change, was broadcasted online on KLRI’s Youtube channel (https://bit.ly/3CAZYs8).
 
Center for Global Climate and Marine Governance affiliated with Global Research Institute of Korea University (CGCMG), Center for Climate and Sustainable Development Law and Policy (CSDLAP), and the Korean Society of Climate Change Research (KSCCR) jointly held the event, which was attended by Kye-Hong Kim, KLRI’s President, Ho-Young Ahn, CSDLAP Advisor, Sang-Hyeop Kim Chairperson of Carbon Neutrality and Green Growth Commission, along with 50 legislative experts in climate change and ministry officials.
 
Allison H. In, Attorney of Sidley law firm started the opening speech on U.S. Inflation Reduction Act, and then Ted Kury, Energy Program Director of the Public Utility Center at University of Florida explained energy cooperation in the aspect of climate change. 
 
In the following panel discussion, Kyung-Hee Lee, KLRI’s Research Fellow, Duk-Woo Jun, Director of the Division of Climate Technology Cooperation at Green Technology Center (GTC), Dave H. Kim, Governance Administrator of Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), Joo-Hyun Park, Attorney of Yulchon LLC attended and had a heated discussion.
 
KLRI’s President, Kye-Hong Kim remarked, “With two summits’ pledges to expand the Korea-U.S. cooperation in clean energy, clean shipping, acceleration in supply of carbon-free vehicles, we look forward the forum to discuss concrete implementation plans of the two countries.
 
Meanwhile, KLRI has been conducting extensive research to establish mid and long term legislative strategy for realizing carbon neutrality society by 2050 and suggest future legislation plans tackling climate change.
