KLRI Held the 52th Legislative Policy Forum with Min-Ho Choi, Mayor of Sejong City

Korea Legislation Research Institute (KLRI, President Kye-Hong Kim) held the 52th Legislative Policy Forum under the theme of “Sejong Metropolitan Autonomous City’s Authority and Issues Related to Its Legal Status” inviting Min-Ho Choi, Mayor of Sejong city at KLRI’s Conference Room.

Min-Ho Choi, the Mayor of Sejong city started his opening speech pointing out the current Sejong City Act in comparison with Jeju Speical Self-Governing Province on the administrative and financial system and suggested the improvement plans.

As a task to revise the Sejong City Act, the mayor stressed that the revised bill should pass the National Assembly approval before the expiry of the application deadline of financial exception. Also, he declared to consistently consult with the government and National Assembly to ensure autonomy of the organization which meet the status of Metropolitan Autonomous City such as reorganization of administration system and exclusion of the existing labor costs.

Meanwhile, KLRI has been holding Legislative Policy Forum as a venue to share legislative achievements and discover new legislative issues with various fields of experts. In the meantime, experts including Nak-In Sung, the Former President of Seoul National University, Il-Jun Park, 2nd Vice Minister of Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy(MoTIE), Seung-Woo Son, President of Korea Institute of Intellectual Property attended and presented on various topics.
