KLRI : KOREA LEGISLATION RESEARCH INSTITUTE

 

 

Korea Legislation Research Institute (KLRI, President Yeoungsoo Han) hosted the 56th Legislative Policy Forum under the theme of ‘Judicial Independence and Legislative Policy’ with the Supreme Court Justice Cheol-Sang An as speaker on July 5 (Wed.) at Rose Room (5F) of the Grand Intercontinental Seoul Parnas. 

 

Justice An proposed various legislative tasks for the judiciary to maintain its independency while fulfilling its functions and roles under the Constitution.

   

In particular, he pointed out the problems of the judiciary which does not have the right to draw up a budget or submit a bill. While explaining the factors that hinder the independence of judiciary, he suggested measures to improve the judicial branch. In addition to that, he introduced the position of the Korean judiciary in the world and stressed out the need to invest in the judiciary that could be suitable for the national status in the world.

  

Meanwhile, KLRI holds the Legislative Policy Forums where invited experts from various fields share their views on legislative outcomes and discover new legislative tasks. Previously the forums had various presentations by invited experts including Minister of Government Legislation Wan-Kyu Lee, President of National Assembly Futures Institute Hyun-Gon Kim, Sejong City Mayor Min-Ho Choi.
