KLRI : KOREA LEGISLATION RESEARCH INSTITUTE

 

Korea Legislation Research Institute (KLRI, President Yeoungsoo Han) held the 2nd Global Legal Forum in 2023 under the theme of ‘Global Norms and Tasks for Sharing and Using Healthcare Data’ on July 19 (Wed.) at the CEO Program Room of Korea University’s CJ Law Building (5Fl.) at 14pm.

 

The Global Legal Forum invites experts and professionals of relevant fields for presentation and discussion on global legal issues for the purpose of discovering and studying such issues and thus deepening the research exchange and collaboration. 

 

The Forum was hosted by Jung-Mi Han, Director of Department of Future Legislation Projects. The first speaker was Eun-Hye Sim Director of Heathrecare Data Development Division at the Ministry of Health and Welfare. She spoke about ‘The Use of Healthcare Data’. 

 

Director Sim explained healthcare data and introduced laws and systems on the collection, distribution, and use of medical data. In addition, she presented the status of key data projects, medical data hubs, standardization of healthcare data, amendment of guidelines for the use of healthcare data and other future challenges. 

 

Next speaker was Tae-Eon Koo, attorney at law at the law firm Lin who spoke on ‘Legislative Improvement for Alias Information on Healthcare.’ He started with the revision of three data-related laws which contain provisions on the introduction of alia information and continued to introduce three medical data-related laws of Medical Law, Bioethics and Safety Act, and Framework Act on Health and Medical Services. 

 

After the presentation by the two experts, a comprehensive discussion was held. Professor Tae-Hoon Ko at Catholic University, Professor Jae-Sun Kim at Dongguk University,  Ki-Soon Ahn attorney at Law&Co., KLRI Senior Research Fellow In-Sook Yun, Professor Kang-Ho Lee at KAIST, and KLRI Research Fellow Won-Jun Jung participated as discussants. 

 

Meanwhile, KLRI held the first Global Legal Forum under the theme of ‘Space Sector as Global Agenda and Legal Tasks’ where discussion under the theme of 2023 UN COPUOS was held.
