KLRI held a joint academic conference with Office of National Assembly Member Byung-wook Kim and The Korea Society for Education Law

Korea Legislation Research Institute (KLRI, President Yeong-soo Han) held a joint academic conference with The Korea Society for Education Law (KSEL) and the Office of National Assembly Member Byung-wook Kim under the topic of ‘Trends and Challenges of the Education Law for the Highly Aging Society’ in the conference room of the National Assembly Research Service on November 23 (Thur.). 
 
This conference was designed to discuss a way to develop the domestic legislation in relation to education for the elderly, as the demand for education for the elderly has been increasing when  domestic laws and polices haven’t kept up with it.  
   
The conference began with the opening speech by KSEL Chairman Deok-nan Lee, the welcoming speech by KLRI President Han, welcoming remarks by National Assembly Member Byung-wook Kim, and the congratulatory remarks by former floor leader Kyung-woon Nah. The conference had three presentation sessions and following discussions : ▲ Human rights of the elderly, social welfare and educational legislation, ▲ Lifelong and vocational education, and laws on education, and ▲ Direction of educational law reform in response for highly aging Society.
   
KLRI President Han said, “The phenomenon of aging society draws controversial discussion for us. The establishment of the elderly-friendly educational environment among the controversial agenda is very important. I hope that today’s discussion can be a significant opportunity of taking the educational legislation to the next level.”
     
Meanwhile, KLRI carries out a research project on global legal strategy that look into and analyses global issues and trends in overseas legislation by country and suggests legislative responses.
