The KLRI President Yoo Hwan Kim visited the Korea Maritime University to sign a Memorandum of Understanding for mutual cooperation. The two sides agreed to cooperate in legal affairs, scholarly exchange, and research capacity building.
Under the MOU, the KLRI and the Korea Maritime University will conduct joint research projects and dispatch the KLRI researchers to the Korea Maritime University for the lecture.
The KLRI’s President Yoo Hwan Kim stated that great synergy would result from signing an MOU with the Korea Maritime University. The KLRI conducts an active research in maritime environmental issue related to climate change, and the Korea Maritime University is well known for its maritime technology and ocean research. Thus, there would then, as a result of the joint research and conference, be a higher total value to both sides.
In opening remarks, President of the Korea Maritime University, Han Il Park stated that this meaningful partnership will lead to a win-win situation for both sides. This cooperative relationship will serve as a great opportunity to exchange resources on information regarding maritime legislation.
The KLRI explains that the signing an MOU with a world-class university, specializing in maritime sciences, is an proactive approach in responding to a direction of new government’s interest in maritime policy.
